Real Estate School for Slidell, Without the Drive

There is no real estate school in Slidell. Every school competing for your enrollment is somewhere else, and most of them are in Baton Rouge, which is about sixty five miles and an hour and a quarter each way. Do that twice a week for the 90 hours and you have spent more time on I-12 than most people spend studying. You do not have to.

What the drive actually costs

Baton Rouge is about 65 miles from Slidell. Lafayette is about 165. At two evenings a week across the 90 hours, the commute alone runs to dozens of hours and a tank of gas a week.

16 live hours on the parts that fail people

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 8 PM, across four weeks with a week off in the middle. Not a review of everything. Only the areas that years of tutoring show are where students actually struggle most on the exam.

What self-paced gives you

The same approved 90 hours with no schedule at all. Start tonight, work around your job, finish when you finish.

Who teaches it

Taught by a broker who wore the uniform and still sells real estate here.

The live classes are taught by Steven Desormeaux, a working Louisiana broker and an LREC approved instructor. Not a narrator reading from a script, and not a course someone recorded four years ago and left running. You can ask a question and get an answer.

That matters more at a distance than it does in a classroom. A student in Slidell who hits something confusing in week three needs a person to ask, and the whole point of a live class is that there is one.

Listing sheets and a valuation spreadsheet spread across a desk with a calculator
Slidell has always been underserved, and it should not be!

Search for a real estate school here and look at what comes back. Two schools in Baton Rouge, a national franchise, an online provider, and a school in Mississippi. Not one of them is here, because no school has ever set up in Slidell. That left north shore students choosing between a long drive and whatever they could find online. You deserve better than that, and the good news is you no longer have to settle for either. A live class over Zoom gives you a real instructor and a real schedule without asking you to cross the lake twice a week.

Why Slidell students go online

01

You keep your job

The 90 hours fit around shift work, a commute to New Orleans, or a family. No school is asking you to be somewhere at 6pm twice a week.

02

You are already close to the exam

The nearest Pearson VUE sites are in Metairie and New Orleans, about 40 minutes. That part you cannot do from home, and it is the only drive the process actually requires.

03

Same license, same commission

Louisiana does not issue a lesser license to someone who studied online. The LREC approval is on the school, not the seating chart.

04

You can start tonight

The self paced course opens the moment you enroll. No waiting for the next cohort to fill in Baton Rouge.

05

Live is still available if you want it

If you learn better with a schedule and other people, the live class runs on Zoom. You get the structure without the interstate.

06

You stay on the north shore afterwards

Post-license, continuing education and NAR designations all run the same way. You will not have to solve the distance problem again at renewal.

Slidell questions

What north shore students ask.

If your question is not here, call 337-522-3334 and ask. You will get the instructor.

Is there a real estate school in Slidell?

No. There is no LREC approved school based in Slidell. The schools competing for Slidell students are in Baton Rouge, elsewhere in Louisiana, or out of state. That is why most people here study online, and why our live classes run on Zoom rather than asking you to drive.

Do I have to drive to Baton Rouge to get my real estate license?

No. The entire 90 hours can be completed from Slidell, either self-paced or in a live class over Zoom. The only part of the process that requires travel is the exam itself, and the nearest test centers are in Metairie and New Orleans, roughly 40 minutes away.

Is an online real estate course accepted in Louisiana?

Yes. The Louisiana Real Estate Commission approves the school, and the format. EXCEL is LREC approved school 9150, and the 90 hours you complete with us count exactly the same as hours completed in a classroom.

How much does it cost to get licensed from Slidell?

The self-paced 90-hour course is $150 and the live class is $600. On top of the course you have the state fees, which run about $228.75 for the application, fingerprinting and exam, plus errors and omissions insurance before the license is issued.

Can I do my continuing education from Slidell too?

Yes. Continuing education, the 45-hour post-license course and the NAR designation courses all run online or on Zoom. Once you are licensed you will not need to solve the distance problem again at renewal.
