12 Hours | Dec 31 Deadline

Louisiana Real Estate CE Requirements 2026

Every active Louisiana licensee needs 12 hours of approved CE by December 31, including this year's mandatory course.

The Broker Mandatory

Brokers and associate brokers also complete a second mandatory: Broker Leadership and Compliance.

Coursework with Confidence

Most CE problems are not about the classes. They come from four small rules that are easy to miss. Read these once and December gets a lot less stressful.

Clearing up the confusion

Don't get tripped up with the details.

01

New licensees

Your 45-hour post-license course can cover 8 of the 12 hours, but it never covers the mandatory topics.

02

It resets every year

The 12 hours are an annual requirement, and the clock restarts every January.

03

Missing the deadline

CE left unfinished on December 31 is a violation of LREC rules and subject to a fine citation. Do not let a $39 class become a fine.

04

Going inactive

The 12-hour requirement applies to licensees renewing in active status. Renewing inactive is a different conversation, so call us before you choose that route.

December 31st is coming

CE questions agents ask every December.

Straight answers. Anything else, call (337) 522-3334.

How many CE hours do I need in Louisiana?

Twelve hours of LREC-approved coursework each year if you renew in active status. The deadline is December 31, and it applies to salespersons and brokers alike.

What is the 2026 mandatory course?

Transparency, Technology, and Trust. It is four hours, and both salespersons and brokers renewing active must take it. EXCEL teaches it live on Zoom and on demand for $39.

Do brokers need anything extra in 2026?

Yes. Brokers and associate brokers also complete Broker Leadership and Compliance, the second 2026 mandatory. EXCEL runs a live broker class for it.

Does my post-license course count toward CE?

Partly. Post-license hours can satisfy 8 of the 12 hours, but they never satisfy the mandatory topics.

What happens if I miss December 31?

The LREC treats unfinished CE as a violation subject to a fine citation. Finishing a $39 class beats explaining a citation.

Is on-demand credit the same as live credit?

Yes. Both formats are LREC-approved and worth the same hours. Live adds an instructor and real-time answers. On demand adds convenience.

Can I earn CE and a NAR credential at the same time?

Yes. Three of our NAR courses carry Louisiana CE hours: the ABR carries 12, and the PSA and MRP each carry 6. You cover elective hours you had to buy anyway and earn a national credential at the same time.

Who teaches it

CE that respects your time and your license.

Steven Desormeaux is a working Louisiana instructor for several national designations. His CE classes stay practical: what changed, what it means in your next transaction, and what the LREC expects to see. No filler, no wasted hour.

Bring your real questions. That is the point of live.
