Real Estate School Serving New Orleans, Starting When You Do

EXCEL serves New Orleans. We teach students across Orleans and Jefferson Parish, and every other parish in Louisiana, live over Zoom and through the self paced course. That matters here, because the only real estate school inside the city is a community college and a college runs on a semester. The private schools are in Metairie or Baton Rouge. You do not have to wait for a term or drive out of the parish.

16 live hours on what actually fails people

The 90 hours, on your own time

The approved course is online and self paced. It opens the moment you enroll and you have 180 days with it. Work a shift, work a weekend, work at midnight. Nobody is waiting on you.

16 live hours on the parts that fail people

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 8 PM, across four weeks with a week off in the middle. Not a review of everything. Only the areas that years of tutoring show are where students actually struggle most on the exam.

Come back as many times as you need

Attend the live class as often as you like for your full 180 days. If you fail, repeat it free. And you have one on one time with the instructor the whole way through.

Who teaches it

Taught by a working Louisiana broker/instructor, not a recording.

The live classes are taught by Steven Desormeaux, a working Louisiana broker and an LREC approved instructor. Not a narrator reading from a script, and not a course someone recorded four years ago and left running. You can ask a question and get an answer.

That matters more at a distance than it does in a classroom. A student in Gentilly or Algiers who hits something confusing in week three needs a person to ask, and the whole point of a live class is that there is one.

Six reasons this works better here than a seat in a room somewhere else.

From Orleans Parish

Why New Orleans students go online

01

You are not waiting for a term

A semester start date is a college problem, not a licensing requirement. The state does not care what month you began. The self-paced course opens the moment you enroll.

02

You keep the job you have now

Hospitality hours, shift work, a route across the parish. The 90 hours fit around all of it, because nothing is asking you to be somewhere at six in the evening twice a week.

03

Your exam is already close

Pearson VUE tests in the metro area. That part you cannot do from home, and for once it is the short trip rather than the long one.

04

Same license, same commission

Louisiana does not issue a lesser license to someone who studied online. The LREC approval is on the school and that's what matters.

05

Live is still available if you want it

If you learn better with a schedule and other people, the live class runs on Zoom. You get the structure without leaving the parish.

06

Our school can handle all of your education needs

Post-license, continuing education and NAR designations all run the same way, with the same instructor. Once you are licensed you never have to go looking again.

New Orleans questions

What people here ask.

If your question is not here, call 337-522-3334 and ask. You will get the instructor.

Does EXCEL serve New Orleans?

Yes. We teach students throughout New Orleans, Orleans and Jefferson Parish and the wider metro area, and we serve every parish in Louisiana the same way. Live classes run on Zoom with a real instructor on a real schedule, and the self-paced course is open any time. Our office is in Lafayette, and the courses come to you.

Is there a real estate school based in New Orleans?

There is one inside the city, Delgado Community College, and it teaches real estate as a college credential on a semester calendar. The private schools nearest to you are in Metairie, and after that Baton Rouge. That is why many people here study online instead, and why our live classes run on Zoom rather than asking you to drive.

Do I have to enroll in college to get my license?

No. Louisiana requires 90 hours of approved pre-license education, not a college credential. Any LREC approved school can teach those hours, and EXCEL is approved school number 9150. A college route is one way to do it. It is not the only way and it is not the fastest.

Is an online real estate course accepted in Louisiana?

Yes. The Louisiana Real Estate Commission approves the school, not the room. The same 90 hours count whether you sit them in a classroom, on Zoom, or on your own schedule, and the license at the end is identical.

How much does it cost to get licensed from New Orleans?

The course is $150 self paced or $600 live. On top of that you have the state application, the fingerprint background check, the Pearson VUE exam and errors and omissions insurance before the license issues. Those are the same wherever you study. The cost page lists every figure.

Can I do my continuing education from New Orleans too?

Yes. The mandatory course, your electives, the 45-hour post-license course and the NAR designations all run the same way. Once you are licensed you never have to solve the distance problem again.
