Your Path to Negotiation Mastery

Win at the table. Earn the RENE certification.

Buyers name negotiating terms as one of the three things they most want from an agent. The RENE teaches you to be the reason a deal holds together instead of the reason it stalls.

What the RENE is

A National Association of REALTORS® certification covering negotiation itself: the tactics, the personalities, and the competing objectives sitting around every transaction.

Why it matters now

Compensation is negotiated in the open, buyers sign representation agreements before they tour, and 26% of buyers are paying cash. Every one of those changes lands on the agent at the table.

What it changes

You stop reacting to the other agent and start running the conversation. You learn to read what the other side actually needs, which is rarely what they opened with.

Every deal is won or lost in a conversation.

Only 5% of homes sold without an agent last year, the lowest share ever recorded. People are not hiring us to open doors. They are hiring us for the part that happens after the offer.

Who is teaching it

Taught by a broker who negotiates for real, not in theory.

Steven holds the RENE alongside several other designations and certifications, owns a brokerage, supervises agents across three states and still works his own transactions. The examples in this class are not case studies. They are deals that either closed or did not, and he can tell you which.

You learn negotiation from someone who still does it daily.

RENE FAQ

Common questions before you enroll.

These answers cover the practical points. NAR fees and membership requirements can change, so confirm both before you apply.

Do I need to be a REALTOR® to take this?

You can take the course as any licensed agent. The certification itself requires NAR membership in good standing, so join first or apply once you have.

Is it really worth the fees?

Only 5% of homes sold without an agent last year, and homes sold by owner carried a median price of $360,000 against $425,000 for agent-assisted sales. Those figures come from the National Association of REALTORS® 2025 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers. Different homes sell in each group, so the gap is not all representation. But buyers themselves name negotiating terms as one of the three things they most want from an agent, and that is the part this course is about.

Do I have to attend both days?

Yes. The coursework requirement covers both days, and the second builds directly on the first. If a date does not work, take a later session.

Can agents outside Louisiana take this course?

Yes. The RENE is a national certification and the content is not state-specific, so agents licensed in any state can attend and apply afterward.

Does this course carry Louisiana CE credit?

Not at this time. This course is offered for the RENE certification coursework rather than for Louisiana continuing education credit. If you need CE hours this year, the ABR, PSA and MRP courses all carry them.

Is the RENE a designation or a certification?

It is a certification, in the same family as the PSA and the MRP. Certifications are earned once and do not expire, as long as you stay a member of NAR in good standing.
